Milam Glacier is the largest and Major glacier of Kumaon. The base camp for this 16 km long glacier is at Munsiyari. Milam Glacier is a major glacier of the Kumaon Himalayas trekking in Himalaya. It is situated in the tehsil of Munsiyari, part of the Pithoragarh district of Uttarakhand, India, base for Milam Glacier is Munsyari in Pithoragarh district. From Munsyari the trek will take us to downhill along to Gori Ganga River. From Bogudiyarcam to Rilkot camp. Dense forest lined with trees clung to each other, chattering streams making its way to the river from the glaciers, meeting and greeting the locals along with challenges makes the Milam Glacier trek best for explorers and adventurers,

Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Day 1 Arrive Kathgodam drive to Munsiyari 8-9 hrs drive to Munsiyari an altitude - 7100 ft.

Arrive at Kathgodam, our vehicles will be waiting for you here to take you through a picturesque drive (covering Almora, Bageshwar, Chowkri and Tejam) to Munsiyari. You shirk off the journey here by getting a sound sleep either at a tent or a rest house.

Day 2: Day 2 Rest day at Munsiyari and Paperwork.

Most part of the day is spent in getting some paper work ready to get necessary permits from the local administration. The evenings however are free for you to see around the very beautiful village.

Day 3: Day 3 Munsiyari to Bugudiyar camp 1 hrs.drive then 5-6 hrs trek to camp an altitude - 7300 ft.

From Munsyari, a 10 km drive will take you to Lilam from where we begin our trail up the hill. This and trek to Bugudiyar camp will find yourself in Bugudiyar camp in good time to halt at the tiny rest house for the night.

Day 4: Day 4 Bogudiar camp to Rilkot camp 6-7 hrs trek an altitude - 10,100 ft.

The beginning of the true Trans-Himalayan terrain and trekking experience is from this point on. After breakfast, you will start the trek to Rilkot. Keeping on the trek, you will arrive at the village of Rilkot, where you can set up camp by the river. Dinner and overnight at tents

Day 5: Day 5 Rilkot Camp to Milam village 7-8 hrs trek an altitude - 11,800 ft.

The land is now almost arid and the villages in passing are nearly deserted till you get to Burphu village which is backed by the Burphu peak ( 6300 m ). The eastern side of Nanda Devi east comes in to view here while you reach up to Milam village.

Day 6: Day 6 Milam village to visit Milam glacier 6-7 hrs trek max. altitude - 12,700 ft.

A steep wide trek leads into the Johar valley, dominated by the north face of Hardeol peak above the Pachhu glacier. came through this valley There is a camp site 3 km from the base of Malari pass.

Day 7: Day 7 Trek from Milam village to Martoli village 5-6 hrs trek an altitude-11,700 ft.

This excursion is possible from the Milam village to the Martoli village via Burfu village. The path can be slippery due to clear ice uncovered by debris from earlier treks and one needs to be careful while crossing the left bank of Gori ganga river.

Day 8: Day 8 Martoli village to Bugudiyar camp 5-6 hrs an altitude - 7200 ft.

The trek after breakfast takes you closer to Munsiyari as you arrive at Bugudiyarcamp.dinner and overnight at huts.

Day 9: Day 9 Bugudiyar camp to Munsiyari 5-6 hrs trek and 1 hrs drive an altitude - 7200 ft.

After your breakfast start trek to Lilam village and a jeep will take you to Munsiyari .Dinner and overnight at guesthouse/tents.

Day 10: Day 10 Munsyari to Kathgodam 8-9 hrs drive & Departure.

The atmosphere while we drive back to Almora from Munsiyari is saddened by the thought of leaving an enchanting landscape behind.
